Exhibition Design Week 2017 “ Spazi nello Spazio”
Milano, Italy
In collaboration with EDBSTUDIO
The exhibition revolves around the concept of space – the space we inhabit, interact with, and occupy with our objects. This very space is the cornerstone of our design methodology. Following the tradition of the great Milanese masters, our practice spans multiple disciplines. We place both the object, as a constituent of architecture, and the individual at the centre of our creative thought. Space begins on a blank sheet, evolving from a concept into a project, before acquiring three-dimensionality as a prototype, an object, or a completed building.
‘SPAZI NELLO SPAZIO’ explores these concepts across industrial, architectural and exhibition design. Within the historic nave of Milan's Biblioteca Umanistica dell’Incoronata, four ephemeral timber and fabric structures alter the venue's experience while preserving its 15th-century vaults.
This dialogue with heritage highlights the contemporary intervention through reversible techniques and contrasting materials. A box within a box, a content for a container – because every object generates space, is a space in itself, and defines the three-dimensional negative space around it.
