Recreational Centre “Paideia”
Barisciano, L’Aquila, Italy

The building was designed and constructed in just five months to respond to the post-earthquake emergency. It satisfies the local authority's priority requirements for a low-cost, anti-seismic structure delivered within the shortest possible timeframe.

The project also reflects the designer’s vision to focus on architectural quality, integrating the building with its surroundings while ensuring the lowest possible environmental and construction impact.

The siting and spatial organisation result from careful research focused on delivering a Class A building, conceived according to bioclimatic principles. Particular attention was dedicated to the selection of ecological materials, innovative construction techniques and the building's relationship with solar geometry.

The layout of the different blocks is characterised by simplicity and rationality, ensuring optimum functionality and cost-effective operational management.
